We are expanding our judging panel for the BAPM Gopi Menon Awards in 2020. If you would like to help review the applications and agree the shortlist we would love to hear from you. Any BAPM members are eligible to volunteer and we are especially keen to recruit a trainee as we do not have trainee representation on the panel at the moment.
Following on from the recent BAPM publication of the Framework for Practice on the Perinatal Management of Extreme Preterm Birth Before 27 weeks of Gestation an online survey has been developed to determine the views of UK doctors and ANNPs on resuscitation of extremely preterm infants.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published a quality standard focusing on neonatal respiratory support in hospital for babies born preterm (before 37 weeks of pregnancy).
The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) is seeking to appoint Clinical Advisors to work within the HSIB’s Maternity Programme. The Clinical Advisor will be required to provide support and clinical expertise in obstetrics, neonatology, anaesthetics, critical care, or maternal medicine or related specialities. This would be to provide clinical advice and quality assurance to maternity investigations. The post holder will also be required to present the work of and be an ambassador of HSIB at relevant local and national events.
The BPSU team have written to paediatricians and neonatologists asking them to make sure they report all cases meeting the case definition of neonatal complications of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to the BPSU in the first instance to ensure complete UK data collection. National BPSU data will be shared internationally.
