High-performing units prioritise patient voice and patient experience as a part of their culture and this is used to provide perspectives, views and assessments of care to improve processes and stimulate behavioural change. A woman’s perspective may alter through her journey as different steps of the perinatal optimisation pathway are experienced, and views about her own care are likely to differ from that of her baby’s care. As such feedback should be sought at different stages and include a representative group of users.

British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) is registered in England & Wales under charity number 1199712 at 5-11 Theobalds Road, London, WC1X 8SH.
