The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and RCPCH have invited BAPM to nominate a representative to join a group to review the Academy’s 2008 Guidance on The Diagnosis and Confirmation of Death

The group will review the 2008 guidance to ensure that it reflects current medical practice and terminologies.

Topics for review will include:

  • Definition of death (standardisation of terminology, recent UK legal cases, time of death).
  • Maintaining Safety (review of testing form, red flag confounders, who can diagnose death, clarification of neurological and circulatory criteria, sedatives).

If you are interested in representing BAPM on this working group please send an email to the BAPM Office by Monday 10 January including a brief outline (max 150 words) of your interest in the topic.

Applicants must be a current member of BAPM.
