Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become increasingly available to clinicians for the evaluation of the fetus and neonate. However, with the exception of MR imaging in infants with hypoxic-ischaemic encepahalopathy (HIE), there are no formal guidelines that address clinical indications and the practical aspects of MRI in these patient groups within the NHS.
