The mission of HDR UK is to unite UK health and care data to improve people’s lives. Researchers can apply for access via the Gateway.

NHS programme to gather comprehensive, standardised data across England on the circumstances of all children’s deaths
National Maternity and Perinatal Audit (NMPA)
An audit of the NHS maternity services across England, Scotland and Wales, led by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in partnership with the Royal College of Midwives, RCPCH and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. NMPA report data about babies that is captured in the Maternity Services Dataset and Hospital Episode Statistics ‘maternity tail’.
National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP)
National neonatal audit commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership on behalf of NHS England, and the Scottish and Welsh Governments and delivered by RCPCH.
National Neonatal Research Database (NNRD)
A database containing data items (the Neonatal Data Set (NDS)) on all admissions to NHS neonatal units in England, Wales and Scotland, unless parents opt-out.
Neonatal Critical Care Minimum Data Set (NCCMDS)
An NHS England Information Standard (algorithm) developed to facilitate the National Tariff Payment System within neonatal critical care by using data captured to generate a Healthcare Resource Group ((HRG) or level of care e.g. intensive care, high dependency, special care etc) for each day a baby is an inpatient.
Neonatal Data Analysis Unit (NDAU)
Part of the Neonatal Medicine Research Group based at the Chelsea and Westminster campus of Imperial College London. The NNRD was established at the NDAU and is currently held there.
Neonatal Data Set (NDS)
A multipurpose NHS information Standard specifying the data items to be sent by NHS Trusts/Boards for incorporation into a national database. Currently the national database is the NNRD.
