The Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch (HSIB) is seeking to appoint Clinical Advisors to work within the HSIB’s Maternity Programme. The Clinical Advisor will be required to provide support and clinical expertise in obstetrics, neonatology, anaesthetics, critical care, or maternal medicine or related specialities. This would be to provide clinical advice and quality assurance to maternity investigations. The post holder will also be required to present the work of and be an ambassador of HSIB at relevant local and national events.

The posts will be part time (0.2-0.4 WTE) 1-2 days a week initially for 1-year fixed term, with a view to extend. Whilst based at home the role requires significant travel. It is expected that Clinical Advisors would be registered with the General Medical Council and maintain part time clinical practice within their speciality.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic clinical consultant who has experience and a keen interest in patient safety, human factors and healthcare safety investigations. During the first year of maternity investigations in all trusts throughout England we have gathered significant learning, this role will have responsibility for guiding how this information can be used to influence safety within maternity services and impact on the National Maternity Safety Ambition.
