Who is the chart aimed at?

NEWTT2 is a track and trigger tool for use in postnatal ward settings such as postnatal ward, transitional care, delivery suite; as such it applies to both term and late preterm newborns. The NEWTT2 tool is recommended for use in at risk babies as defined in the framework.

Do I need to fill in the whole chart every time?

All observations should be conducted every time (except for glucose which should only be measured where and when indicated).

Can I get a copy of the NEWTT2 chart to make changes?

No. The NEWTT2 chart is a national document and has been agreed centrally by a range of stakeholders and cannot be adapted. If there is something you think needs to change then please do share this feedback [link] with us so this can be considered when the chart and framework are next updated.

Is there a digital version of NEWTT2?

The digital specification for the new MEWS and NEWTT2 tools are going to be developed by NHS England over the next few months. We are aiming for these to be available by the Autumn.

There is a plan to bring together an engagement event with all digital suppliers to share more details.

British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) is registered in England & Wales under charity number 1199712 at 5-11 Theobalds Road, London, WC1X 8SH.
