Join the St George’s Fetal Monitoring Group for another expert-led discussion to enhance everyday practice and improve maternity outcomes.

The theme of this year's Perinatal Symposium is Group B Strep.

The findings from the GBS3 trial are still unpublished but will shape the evidence the UK National Screening Committee will use to decide whether universal screening should be introduced. Press, public, and parliamentary petitions for mandatory screening continue to gather pace whilst the effectiveness of the current risk-based approach is constantly challenged.

This symposium will look at current practice, the way forward, what clinicians need to weigh up while we await the results of the GBS3 trial, and how to counsel pregnant women and their families in the meantime.

Join on Monday 7th December to hear from some of the leading voices on Group B Strep:

  • Paul Heath, Professor of Paediatric Infectious Diseases & Director of the Vaccine Institute at St George's, & member of the WHO Group B Strep Technical Advisory Group
  • Jane Plumb MBE, Founder & Chief Executive of Group B Strep Support Charity, & campaigner for change in UK policy
  • Philip Steer, Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics at Imperial College London: former Editor-in-Chief of BJOG, & Chair of the Group B Strep Support Medical Advisory Panel
