This study day is designed for neonatal clinicians wishing to develop their knowledge and practical skills in lung ultrasound.

The programme includes dedicated practical sessions, case-based learning, and opportunities to discuss real-world clinical applications with experienced faculty.

Topics covered will include:

  • Ultrasound settings, probes, and scanning techniques
  • Lung ultrasound scoring systems and surfactant administration
  • Differentiating RDS and transient tachypnoea using ultrasound
  • Diagnosis of pneumothorax, pleural effusion, and other neonatal respiratory conditions
  • Pathological artefacts and interpretation of common neonatal lung pathologies
  • Clinical application of lung ultrasound scores in neonatal practice

Interactive workshops will provide hands-on experience in:

  • Normal lung ultrasound and RDS scoring
  • Recognition of consolidation, pneumothorax, effusion, and TTN
  • Live scanning with volunteers
  • Case discussions, video interpretation, and structured reporting
