This webinar introduces participants to the structure of congenital heart defects. Participants will be shown heart specimens ranging from ‘simple’ holes in the heart to more complex lesions. Although there are no clinical images, the purpose of this webinar is to enable participants to have a better overall understanding of congenital heart defects they encounter in the clinical setting across the age range. 

Aims: 

  • Learn the structure of the normal heart as basis for understanding malformations 
  • Learn how to analyse a malformed heart systematically 
  • Understand and differentiate between various types of defects 
  • Gain essential knowledge into the structure of heart defects to help clinical work, e.g. when viewing clinical imaging.
