Safety Alert: Bath seats
Providing safe bathing advice to families on discharge.
Following the tragic death of a baby in a bath seat last year, the NHS has updated its website on bathing babies to include the advice “never leave your baby alone in the bath, not even for a second” and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommend baby bath seats are not used.

BAPM would encourage neonatal units to provide safe bathing advice to families on discharge from the neonatal unit.
