Focus group date: 2-3pm, 15th December, Online

BAPM is seeking parents who have had a baby born (or at risk of being born) before 27 weeks gestation to join a virtual focus group to review parent information leaflets and posters designed to support parent counselling. These materials will be published alongside the BAPM Extreme Prematurity framework. Your insights will help ensure the information is clear, supportive, and meets the needs of families facing an uncertain time in the neonatal unit.

What to Expect

You will be sent the materials in advance to review. The posters includes the chances of extremely preterm babies surviving, or not surviving, as well as the risks of severe disability. During the session, you will be asked to share your thoughts about which version you prefer and what you think works and doesn’t work about the current posters. Some questions may ask you to reflect on your own experiences in the neonatal unit.

Please consider your own needs and wellbeing before agreeing to participate.

We appreciate that taking part in this focus group might bring up some difficult thoughts and reminders for people. Sophie Burgess, Consultant Clinical Psychologist working in neonatal care, will be supporting the session. If you would like to discuss your involvement in this work with Sophie at any part in the process please let the BAPM Office know so we can put you in touch.

Payment

All participants that review the posters and attend the focus group session will be offered a Love2shop voucher for £50.

How to Join

Please email [email protected] to register for the session and you will be sent a virtual link.
