BAPM has worked with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) to develop guidance on the recent monkeypox outbreak.

The guidance covers the pathway and clinical considerations in the following situations:

  1. care of a child or young person (CYP) with suspected monkeypox,
  2. CYP contact of a confirmed case of monkeypox,
  3. newborn baby of a mother with suspected or confirmed monkeypox.

Evidence is only just emerging and so at this stage a cautionary approach has been taken. The guidance will be updated when there are more data.
