We are aware that many of our members, as well as our parents and families from neonatal units across the UK, will have been very saddened and shocked by the news regarding the outcome of the Lucy Letby trial.

BAPM would like to offer our heartfelt sympathy to all the families affected by the Lucy Letby case. We also recognise the case may be distressing for families whose babies are currently needing neonatal care and we encourage you to contact our friends at Bliss if you need to talk.

For any staff members affected by this case, please do seek help from your local hospital support services. The Association of Clinical Psychologists has also released a neonatal unit resource pack for during and after difficult local or national events which may be of interest.

BAPM will review and consider carefully any recommendations from the recently announced independent enquiry when available.
