The Commission on Human Medicines is looking to appoint five experts to the Paediatric Medicines Expert Advisory Group (PMEAG) in the following areas: 

  • neonatology
  • paediatric rheumatology
  • paediatric respiratory medicine
  • nurse with a special paediatric interest
  • clinical trials methodology/ epidemiology/ statistics with a paediatric interest

The PMEAG is an Expert Advisory Group of the Commission on Human Medicines which advises the Licensing Authority (Health Ministers) on the safety, quality and efficacy of medicines for paediatric use. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency seeks independent advice from the CHM.

The eligible candidates must have significant experience in paediatric clinical practice in their speciality ; knowledge of paediatric clinical trials conduct and/or data evaluation would be useful but not essential. They are looking for skilled communicators with the ability to operate effectively on a national expert scientific committee. The ability to assimilate complex scientific information at short notice and being prepared to contribute actively to the work of the EAG is essential.

Remuneration will be £200 per meeting, for a time commitment of up to 10 meetings per year. The MHRA determines the length of appointment, which may be for up to a maximum of four years, extendable to a second term.
