BAPM President, Dr Helen Mactier had written to Andrea Leadsom, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in regards to the recent consultation to review neonatal leave and pay.

Dr Mactier urges the government to financially support parents of babies admitted to neonatal units saying 'There is no doubt whatsoever that being able to facilitate family presence on the neonatal unit is hugely beneficial, even to the tiniest babies.'

The consultation on Neonatal Leave and Pay is now closed although the wider consultation on Parental Leave and Pay is open until 29 November.
