Research into Blood Donation and Blood Transfusion

23 November 2017

Last year the James Lind Alliance Blood Donation and Blood Transfusion Priority Setting Partnership carried out a survey asking for questions for research about blood donation and the use of blood transfusion.

Every survey response was considered carefully and they have now been analysed and checked against existing research to ensure that they are all true uncertainties.  This has resulted in a list of 50 confirmed questions for research around the process of blood donation, the benefits and complications of a blood transfusion, the decision and the administration of a blood transfusion.

We are now looking for patients, carers and health professionals to help us narrow down the 50 questions into a shorter list to take to our final prioritisation workshop on 28 February 2018 where patients, carers and clinicians will come together to discuss and agree a final shortlist of questions for research.

You can help by completing the survey.

If you would be interested in attending the final workshop on Wednesday, 28th February 2018 in Oxford, please fill in your contact details at the end of the survey and a member of the team will be in contact with you.

We thank you for your assistance
