This one-day workshop will provide you with an understanding of the importance of research, how to develop a research culture and information on how to bring a clinical trial to your unit. You will also learn how to approach speaking to parents, children and young people about research and asking for research consent.

Based on original content from BAPM and developed in association with RCPCH, this workshop is suitable for paediatric professionals in any speciality that wish to get involved in research.

Programme topics include:

  • Research in paediatrics
  • How research shaped my career
  • The parent's perspective on research 


The workshops will include:

  • Presentations from clinicians and parents, plus the chance to work through example scenarios
  • The research curriculum and how to evidence your research competencies and  running a successful journal club
  • Parent and professional attitudes to research

Who should attend?

This training is suitable for any paediatric professional (medical, nursing, allied professions) that would like an introduction to research skills. The workshop is not aimed at academics, it is for clinicians who wish to get involved in research. 


This event can be used as CPD. Certificates and written feedback (mini CEX for your portfolio) can be provided on request.

BAPM Members: Medical- £95
BAPM Members: Nursing / Allied Health - £65
Non Members: Medical - £115
Non Members: Nursing / Allied Health - £75

Fees include lunch and refreshments.


Cancellations should be confirmed in writing or by email before close of day on 10th May 2019. BAPM regrets that we cannot refund any fees after this date.
